• Provide safety programs and coordinate special programs in the area of law enforcement.
• Take steps appropriate and consistent with a law enforcement officer’s duty when a crime occurs.
• Conduct criminal investigations, and collect information, intelligence, and evidence regarding criminal violations on campus.

The Lamar County School District operates its own police force in accordance with the requirements and regulations of the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards & Training. The district employs certified law enforcement officers as school resource officers. The Police Officers are certified by the State of Mississippi and are vested with the power to keep and preserve the peace on school property, including the power to make arrests, detain violators, and execute all the powers of a constable.
