Track-A-Truck 2019

Climb. Honk. Explore. Discover.

Parents as Teachers hosted our first Track-a-Truck event on Nov. 7th at the Lamar County Multipurpose in Purvis.  It was a hands-on literacy and vehicle experience.  Children engaged in a story time and explored a variety of vehicles.

Roll & Read Literacy Events

One of our favorite traditions is hosting a Roll & Read Literacy Event for our Pre-k families, our PAT families, as well as for the community. It is an opportunity to highlight a book, offer a story time, extend the book with hands-on activities, and promote literacy within our community.  Our first Roll and Read event was in 2016, featuring Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?  It is now an annual event, and we love highlighting new books and offering this event at new locations throughout the community.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook to find out about upcoming events!

Little Blue Truck is one of the books we've highlighted for our Roll & Read, which was held at The Barn at Bridlewood in Hattiesburg.

Our very first Roll & Read was held in 2016 and featured Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? at J's Place Park in Oak Grove.

We've highlighted several Pete the Cat books in our Roll & Read events.  Locations have included J's Place Park and Oak Grove Primary.

The Greatest Showman inspired our Under the Big Top Roll and Read, which was held at Planet Gymnastics and offered circus style games and an acrobatic performance.

Read Across America is a day to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday.  We celebrate in style by taking over the Target department store and offering story times and activities.

We also have events for our Parents as Teachers families, such as field trips to Mitchell Farms, Easter Egg Hunts, Q&A with local physicians, Kindergarten Readiness, etc.
