Chief Steve Rosser




Steve Rosser was born in Florida and has resided in Jones county for most of his life. He graduated from South Jones High School. Chief Rosser has 29 years of law enforcement experience. He started his career at the Hattiesburg Police Department. During his 16 years, there he served in many roles, a few are K-9 Patrol Officer, SWAT Team Member, Patrol Division Commander and Director of Training for the Hattiesburg Police Department.

Chief Rosser is the Director of Public Safety for the Lamar County School District. In his 13 years at the LCSD, he has developed a well-trained police force which serves as a model for other school districts in Mississippi and our Team has developed comprehensive safety protocols for various emergency situations which might arise in a school setting. He along with the officers provide training to school personnel in school safety and security and conducts intense training for school police officers. Chief Rosser has implemented many new safety mechanisms at all of the Lamar County Schools to increase safety and security for our students, staff and visitors.

Chief Rosser and his wife, Dena, have been married for 24 years and have two (2) children and they attend Venture Church.

Chief Rosser is a NRA Firearm Instructor, Defensive Tactic Instructor and Concealed Carry Instructor just to name a few of his certifications.  He hosts Concealed Carry Course in the community to help citizens better protect themselves. His hobbies consist of hunting, fishing and farming
