Certified Employment
The Lamar County School District accepts applications for all positions throughout the school year.
All certified applicants must hold appropriate, current Mississippi certification and complete an electronic Lamar County School District application. You may submit an application electronically by going here. (You must register first before you are allowed to work in and submit an electronic application.)
Building principals will interview and recommend an applicant for employment to the Human Resources Office. The Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent and Board must approve all recommendations for employment prior to issuance of a contract.
IMPORTANT - If you are a current non-certified employee and are applying for a certified position you must complete an External employment application. A teacher's assistant that recently obtained a teaching license and would like to apply for a certified teaching position is a common scenario for this situation. Assistant Teachers must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have either passed the Workkeys Test or have at least 48 hours of college credit.
Substitute Teacher Employment
Substitute teachers are called to work on an as needed basis. The rate of pay for a substitute teacher is $80.00 per day. The rate of pay for a Certified (current Mississippi teaching certificate) substitute teacher is $95.00 per day.
