Building principals will interview and recommend an applicant for employment to the Human Resources Office. The Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent and Board must approve all recommendations for employment prior to issuance of a contract.

A teacher's assistant that recently obtained a teaching license and would like to apply for a certified teaching position is a common scenario for this situation. Assistant Teachers must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have either passed the Workkeys Test or have at least 48 hours of college credit.
Substitute Teacher Employment

Substitute teachers are called to work on an as needed basis. The rate of pay for a substitute teacher is $60.00 per day. The rate of pay for a Certified (current Mississippi teaching certificate) substitute teacher is $75.00 per day.
