  • Congratulations to Tommy Dilwith and Keagan Pierce for being our top runners in Mondays cross country meet. Our next meet is this Friday @ Tatum Park

The spirit slogan for this week is Put West to Rest….say the slogan to a cheerleader in a creative way and get a prize!

The sign up sheet for today’s blood drive is still outside the attendance office. We need 12 more people to sign up to meet our goal! If there are no spaces available, write your name at the bottom of the list! You must weigh 110 pounds and be in good health. You must present a photo ID to donate.

Thanks for giving the gift of life!

SHS is participating in the Tackle Hunger Food Challenge again this year against Richton on Sept. 18. Last year our school won this challenge and got $150 for our school. Please help us out by donating non-perishable food items that will feed hungry families in the Pine Belt. Donation boxes are set up around the school.

Attention seniors:  Do you sing, dance or play a musical instrument?  If so you can apply for the Elvis Presley Scholarship.  First place--$5000, 2nd place--$3000 and 3rd place--$2000.  One of our former students, Kaden Stevens won 1st place in 2014. Applications are available in the Career Center.

Homecoming t-shirts are on sale now. Please get an order form from your 1st block teacher if you would like to purchase one.

Attention all students:  Are you a high school student who is making a difference in the community through volunteering?  Do you have a significant amount of documented community service hours?  If so then you may qualify for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award and Scholarship.  Please see Mrs. Pierce in the Career Center for more information.

If you were A STAR Student that received a yard sign last year, we are asking that you return the sign to SHS office no later than Sept 1 so that we may continue to honor our STAR students.
